Hosting a child

Host families are an integral part of the charity – offering a child a caring and loving place to stay when they are so far away from home. We need families, couples or single or retired people to open up their homes to a child for four weeks each year (usually mid-June to mid-July).

During the week, the children meet together for activities and trips out, meaning that host parents can still go to work if needed. At the weekends, the children spend time with their host families.

If you do not have a spare room, the children can share a room with your child/ren – they are used to sharing with siblings and for many having their own bed is a novelty!

We have interpreters on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (as are the charity coordinators).

It is such a rewarding experience!

If you are interested in becoming a host family for our children (or even our two interpreters), then please contact Linda and Tony – FOCC Medway’s coordinators – here.

****Please note that all adults living in a host family home and all volunteers who spend time with the children will have to be vetted by the charity and be DBS-checked.****
