Less than 8 weeks to go… better get learning some Russian!
Russian is not like French or German where there feels like some similarity with English. It even has its own completely different alphabet and makes pronouncing the words from the text impossible (check out this alphabet song from the Russian Sesame Street: https://youtu.be/GIKX9RYOX5w). So we need help! Luckily that help has arrived in the form of a host family member, who amazingly speaks and teaches Russian. So FOCC Medway host families have now got a weekly crash course in essential parental Russian. With less than 8 weeks to go, we need all the help we can get!
So this week we started with some basics such as who, this, she, he, you, we and yes and no. We learnt some courtesy phrases such as hello and goodbye, please and thank you. We attempted to count to ten (as all parents know it is very useful to be able to count to three!) and started to learn the Russian alphabet. It’s a fab start!
