The first few days of the visit are dedicated to monitoring the health of the children. Height and weight are recorded; the children have medical, dental and optician appointments and any treatments needed. However, that doesn’t stop the fun. Let’s find out what they have been up to this week:
On Monday, they had a great time choosing and modelling clothes and shoes that had been very kindly donated to the charity and they visited the park for a good run and some fresh air. On Tuesday and Wednesday, each child had the opportunity to go horse riding and get stuck in at the stables and also to do some crafts and baking.
On Thursday, it was a trip to Maidstone Leisure Centre. Swimming is always a very popular activity for the children.
On Friday, the children had another full day at Bluewater visiting John Lewis, where they got new shoes and had lunch in the cafe with entertainment.
After an amazing first jam-packed week, the weekend is time to spend with their host family.

Friends of Chernobyl’s Children (FOCC) – Medway funds yearly recuperative visits of one month for socially disadvantaged Belarusian children (aged between seven and twelve) from the areas still devastated by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
